Accessing SOM Students and Alumni

Full-time employment: Yale SOM educates leaders for business and society. Many of our students are committed to making a career in the nonprofit sector. If you are interested in hiring an SOM graduate for a full-time position, contact the Career Development Office. The CDO posts job listings for both graduating 2nd-year students and alumni.

Summer internships: Yale SOM offers students interested in summer positions at nonprofits access to our generous Internship Fund. If you have a 10-week project that an MBA can dive into, please contact the Career Development Office.

Consultants: There are a number of SOM alumni who offer consulting services to nonprofits. Please contact PSE for a referral list.

Workshop for Nonprofit Consulting course: SOM faculty and PSE works with New Sector Alliance to offer a semester-long course on nonprofit consulting. Student teams are matched with professional consultants as mentors, and conduct a consulting engagement. If you are interested in participating, contact New Sector Alliance.

SOM Outreach: Through SOM Outreach, a large proportion of first-year students each year form teams to offer pro bono consulting services to local nonprofits. If you are interested in participating, contact the SOM Outreach organizers.

BoardService Club: The BoardService Club matches local nonprofits with students interested in learning more about serving on nonprofit boards. In exchange for the learning opportunity, students work with a board mentor to carry out a project. If you are interested in participating, contact the BoardService organizers.

Community Service Club: The SOM Community Service Club organizes opportunities for students to volunteer for local nonprofits. Past events have included spring cleaning for Camp Farnam and a popular food drive. If you are interested in proposing a project, contact the Community Service organizers.

Global Social Enterprise Club: GSE provides pro-bono consulting services to international non-profit, public and private sector organizations with the goal of making a positive social impact. The club organizes an annual spring break trip druing which the students work with NGOs and SMEs in a developing country. If you are interested in learning more about GSE, view the website.

Independent Study: PSE occasionally assists nonprofits to recruit students to work on a project as an independent study. If you would like to propose a project, email PSE with the project description and timeframe.
